Found a new play area for kids nearby and meal savings with Offerilla :)

It's almost new year!! Yikes and no plans!! :) Everyone else does, right? Yesterday I went to an 'adventure' with my boys, as I told my toddler: a bus ride to this mall where they have an outdoor biking area for kids. I mean, it's supposed to be winter and we went biking!! In Finland! Anyway, we had fun and it was a great way to get rid of some of that energy a 2 year old has. Before that my both boys fell asleep in the stroller, at the same time so mama had some time to do shopping AND have coffee. How about that for an 'adventure'? :) What I didn't know is that this place, a shopping mall which is in Tapiola  in Espoo, has a really huge and fun play area/ room for little kids . I mean, by huge I mean huge: my toddler really needs space so he can run around and play so this was perfect. He's not really that much into playing outdoors cause it's always cold and wet here in Finland (just like me!) so this works! I mean, it's a heaven for adult

Babygear on sale for up to 70% at Lekmer

Image
Good morning! My older son is on christmas vacation for the next 2 weeks so funny but true - I now have more time to write blog posts ;) I mean, not dressing up and down and running to get to the bus but instead slow mornings (that started at 5am, yikes) and eating breakfast together. Baby goes to bed super early at night and then wakes up super early, and my toddler has trouble going to bed at night and then has trouble waking up in the morning. I know, it's a cycle and I can't wait for them both to sleep well at night. Until then... Anyway, christmas is finally over (thank god, no more over eating!!) and annual post-christmas are here. Yay! Funny, but I have a saying these days that thank god you can find that and that as a new one vs. second-hand ;) Yes, people seem to have ridiculous thoughts on selling their stuff second hand and sometimes some of these items are even more expensive than a new one. Crazy. Anyway, back to the topic and Lekmer . They have a lot of stuff

Bugaboo-strollers on sale @Babyshop!

Image
Hey y'all & happy x-mas day! :) Did you all have a merry christmas? We did - I can't believe how much food we had and how much we ate :) Good thing christmas is only once a year ;) Y'all know my obsession on Bugaboo strollers and guess what? They're on sale at Babyshop . Bugaboo weekender (mono) and Bugaboo Bee3 are the ones I considered but mostly on Bee3 - we wont need a double stroller that much longer any more so a lighter stroller and a wheeled board will do the trick. And it's a good price now: starting from 482,80€ is what I got on all-black chassis with grey-melange (extendable) hood..nice!! I'll think about it a few hours but I'm pretty I'll put in the offer. Hey, it's christmas time and I didn't get anything for me yet ;) I was gonna buy a cameleon stroller just because I had Frog and I really liked it (it's super easy to handle, even with a wheeled board attached) and you can get winter tires in front so it would work just a

Back from Sweden and getting ready for christmas :)

Hey y'all! Wow, it's been a week since I wrote last time - time certainly flies :) My baby is 6 months old today, I just can't believe that. Feels like I just took him home. Today we (me and my kids) went to older older son's daycare to have morning porridge. It's a tradition here in Finland to have porridge in the morning, and at christmas time we eat this special porridge with cinnamon and sugar. Yummy! I also met my son's best friends dad, who's actually canadian so it's was so much fun to actually speak english for a while. Too bad, this best friend is quitting at the daycare and they are moving to another country :( Poor little L, he was so sad yesterday and will be super-sad when he goes back to his daycare after christmas break. Oh well, that's life. This past weekend we went to Stockholm in Sweden by a  Silja Line  ferry and I posted this picture on my instagram . We had fun but next time we go, we're gonna stay there a bit longer. Th

My Bugaboo Donkey said goodbye :(

How dramatic but yes, my once loved (and I still love them) Bugaboo Donkey Duo stroller had to go :( Why? Well, even though it was a great one it had it's downside. Such as the seat was way too small for my toddler who's wearing winterclothes and still have to fit in the seat. Actually, his head was all the way in the sun canopy when he was napping (and that was basically the only time we used them so not good). Another one was the width, all though they are pretty small but still. Using public transportation a lot like us it's always embarrassing to take two spaces when there's not that much space to begin with :) And those aren't the whole truth..it's the price tag. They were just a bit too expensive for our use which is only for naptime. So they had to go and I actually cried. For selling my stroller, hello! ;) Anyway, I had to buy a new one since we still need something to get from A to B, so I bought a less expensive double stroller from Phil & Teds.

Christmas is on the way, x-mas party and a cruise to Stockholm

Good afternoon, everyone!  I can't believe it's less than 2 weeks until it's x-mas!! Yikes, I'm not done with shopping and all the other preparations are sorta..not done either. Oh well, no panic and it'll go smoothly as always :) This week is a fun week filled with a visit to my workplace with my tiniest boy, a christmas party at my older son's day care (I love christmas parties) and then a cruise to Stockholm in Sweden and back. If you're interested in going there and see the royals ;) check out Booking   which is a site that has great deals on hotels and airfare. Anyway, we're going on a cruise from friday night to sunday morning and I gotta say, that's the best way of travelling with kids. I mean, there's a playroom for my toddler and a place to feed my baby at the same time plus I can have a coffee during that time. Perfect! Besides, kids are usually tired from all that playing so that's always a bonus, and I don't need to go an

When buying stuff second-hand is not worth it

Good (rainy) morning, everyone! I am a big fan of second-hand, as many of you know it if you have read my blog since the very beginning. Not only because you save some money buying stuff second-hand but there are other good reasons too. You just don't always need to buy everything new, its just a thing for me. Anyway, not going any further on this, but I recently purchased a babywearing jacket online, and by that I mean I got it as a used one. Second-hand, that is. It was one of those quite expensive ones so I thought I should definitely get it because I wasn't sure how long I was gonna wear it. Everything seemed fine, I paid it and got it home. Baby and I went for a walk as I wanted to try my new purchase in real action, as to say it, and went to a nearby mall. So what happened, the alarm started beeping REALLY loud as I walked in to the store. I was a bit confused and embarrassed, of course, because I did not want anyone to think I had stolen anything. It made that same a

Introducing Pandafeet and Sannas online stores

Happy sunday! Can you believe next week will be december and therefore x-mas is just around the corner!! Yikes!! Slippers for babies and toddlers In case you need to buy x-mas gifts for you little ones and want something fun but wearable, I've got the solution for you: Pandafeet online store. They have the cutest slippers for babies and little kids, made of real leather and a good selection to choose from. I may have to order a pair for my toddler so he can wear them at day care. They deliver them fast but unfortunately (I think) they only ship in Finland. But, of course, you can always ask if they deliver these to your country :) Babygear Another fun, but not known for everyone, is an online store called Sannas . I actually found it by an "accident", meaning I was googling to find slings and babycarriers, and Sannas poppep up. I like these smaller businesses and like to advertise them so people will find them more easily. Anyway, they have a small selection o

Black friday sales!

Hey everyone! Weekend is just around the corner and Black friday sales are here! I already did mine today (see the pic on my instagram ) at Cubus and bought a scarf and a hat for .95€ each. Crazy!! Here are some Black friday links to you: Ellos  has all the great stuff including home, clothing. shoes and everything else so check it out! Lekmer  has toys and all the baby stuff you need, NA-KD  for fashion and clothing and Boozt  for clothing and shoes. Today I had quite the adventure with my youngest son as we travelled to the other side of Espoo, which is the town where we live in Finland. I bought an Ergo carrier as second hand and this lady sent it to a different place where I had to pick it up. Usually I pick them at a local store just a few minutes away from my home but today I travelled for an hour one way, thanks to that great public transportation we have here in Espoo ;) Actually, to be honest, it was kinda fun to go somewhere I don't usually go and in a way get out o

Bugaboo comfort wheel board vs Bumbrider sit wheel board

Image
Good sunday, everyone! I can't believe we're almost one month away from christmas and there's absolutely no snow left! Last weekend we made a snowguy (lumiukko, that is in finnish ;)) and this weekend..looking outside as it's raining. Crazy weather. Anyway, I promised on my latest instagram  post that I'd write about my latest purchase (the bugaboo wheeled board, love it!) versus Bumbrider sit  wheel board which I had and worked just fine on my Bugaboo donkey duo..but I sold it. Why? Here's my top 5 - don't worry, it's not a long list :) Bugaboo comfort wheel board + when not in use, you can just push it up - even with the seat on - no string needed (compared to their older version where you needed a string to keep it up) + ..and when in use, you can just simply pull it back down. This seems like a no big deal -type of thing but when you're in a hurry, see the bus coming and just need to get everything ready for the bus, it's those

Ellos discount code

Hey everyone! It rains in Finland and it's miserable to be outside (which is why I'm not there :)) so it's perfect time to start thinking about christmas and presents, of course. Ellos   has a discount code 345446 on the housing products, such as indoor lightning, home textiles, wall papers etc. Shipping fee is added to the total. Go see if you find something good - it's valid until November 22, 2016 so hurry up! I always keep looking at those bright pictures on my instagram   - you know the ones where people have awesome bedrooms or livingrooms just with the right colours and lightning. Especially now that it's so dark outside, good lightning is important. Like this one . Anyway, it's time to go again since my toddler is at the daycare from 8-12 everyday so my own time is very limited these days :) Baby sleeps right now and he started eating solids so it's time for his lunch very soon before we head out. Don't get me wrong, I dont miss my own time t

Early father's day celebration today @Fågeli

Today we're going to have an early father's day celebration at Fågeli which is a restaurant near my house. Sorry, they don't have a website or I just didn't find it but found the above link on the tripadvisor. Anyway, it's a restaurant they just opened this past summer and even though it's super-close to my house (just cross the road), we haven't been there yet. Maybe it's too close ;) So our little family and my husband's family - let's hope it's a good place. In Finland we celebrate father's in November, in case that's confusing :) Yesterday I was all day with my kids, starting with this so called Perhekahvila ("family coffee") in which families in the area come to, and where kids can play, do crafts, sing songs and adults can chat and have coffee & cookies :) It's a great opportunity to meet other families in this area. My parents came here to help me after that because my husband had a "boys night out&quo

Bugaboo and accessories

Hey everyone! What a week, election and the result - wow! :) That's not keeping me awake at night, though, but my littlest guy is; he learner how to scream last night at around 3 am and I've been up since that. Tired momma today!! Anyway, what I was thinking I should write really quickly is that Bugaboo has definitely found a way of selling all kinds of accessories that go so well with the stroller. Bags, leather grips for your handlebar, comfort wheel..which is the one I need. Like said before, I just bought my Bugaboo Donkey Duo  double stroller a while ago and I'm very happy that I bought them. I know, my toddler is almost 3 years old (ok, in march so not yet) and he's slowly starting to walk short distances (to park and almost to the day care this morning, yay!) Only time he really needs it is when he sleeps in it and that's gonna be a daily thing since he changes his day care schedule next week from 4 day week/all day to a 5 day week/only 4 hours everyday.

Election day 2016 and still snowing in Finland

Good morning! So the election day is finally here! Very exciting, at least for all my american friends over there. So who's it gonna be?! Soon we'll find out. Really nothing new here expect that I'm getting mad at this finnish weather. Just too much snow!! I had to shovel my way back to my house and did some shoveling in the parking lot as well - for the sake of the neighbors so they can actually park their cars in the lot in the evening or whenever. That's actually great exercise if you ask me and there's always that other side of the coin in everything :) If you wanna see how much snow we have since it snowed all night, just take a look at my  instagram . See, I'm not making this up ;) But still for some reason I keep looking at trips to somewhere warm (and cheap, I'm on a budget now remember). Just for a week. We had so much fun last december when we travelled to Tenerife . It's so much easier to go out in a sunny and warm place with the kids - yo

Snow, snow and even more snow!

Hello everyone! How has this started for every one else? Mine started with snow and lot more snow expected so yay, fun :) I mean, not really although everything looks much nicer with snow on the ground but I gotta say this weather makes everything harder. Ok I only use public transportation but I feel sorry for my husband who has to drive his car to go to work. Oh well, at least it's not raining :) Sorry for all that whining - life is still excellent with my family and I love being a stay at home mom. My final exam (in psychology) was last week and I'm keeping my fingers crossed to get a decent degree in it. And then I'm done with school for a while, yay! Has everyone already started planning on Christmas? I did, and guess what? We're inviting our whole extended family to spend it with us! So that means lots of planning and eventually lots of cooking to do :) love it! I'll write more about it later and now baby-duty calling! Go see my latest pictures on my inst

Introducing: LivBox cosmetics

I'm one those lazy human beings who needs make up and other cosmetics (hello, I'm up all night with my baby!) but is just way too lazy to use them. So when I buy them, I only use them for such a short time and then I tend to forget and leave them in the bathroom cabinet. My solution for this problem? LivBox . You can order it for many different time periods and cancel it anytime you want. 1 month order costs you 16,90€. What you get is a box of 4-6 trial-sized or samples of cosmetics. This works only in Finland, though, or at least for now this is how it works. So try it or this is a great christmas present idea as well!

Reason I chose Bugaboo Donkey Duo stroller

Many people with two children with age difference 1-3 are struggling with the same thing as I was earlier this year: should I buy a double stroller or will I be okay with a stroller for one and a wheeled board for the older one. I was one of those people, although I did buy a used Phil&Teds stroller (ok, very used) and didn't like it that much (the baby carrycot is way too small for the baby and I didn't like the idea one child would basically be sitting on the ground). (And as I go further, remember - these are just my points of views and people think differently). So I sold that one way before my number two was here. Just weeks before my second child was born, I decided we still needed a side-by-side -double stroller so we bought a (used one) Easywalker duo stroller. I liked it, no big reason for selling it (again!) but it was kinda heavy and just a bit too large for us: it didn't fit the front door and I don't like to keep my strollers outside so that had to go.

Happy sunday

Today I went for a long walk with my boys. Yes, with my new all black Bugaboo Donkey Duo stroller :) I have to say I haven't regreted buying it even though it was a bit expensive even though I bought it second-hand. Anyway, life's too short and I realized - after selling my previous double stroller - that I really needed one; just a stroller for one and a wheeled board just wasn't enough for a sometimes cranky 2,5 year old. Besides, he still needs to nap and he only falls asleep during stroller walks so it was sorta must thing to get this stroller. Okay, it's the best stroller I've ever had. The ride is so smooth in every terrain I've taken it and they both seem to like, and it looks so cool too. So back to the walk..both boys fell asleep (and the younger one is just now waking up - he's been asleep for 3 hours!!) What a perfect weather for a long walk: it didn't rain at all and it wasn't too windy, plus I really needed that walk after eating a whol

I'm back 😊

Hello everyone! So I'm back, just couldn't stop for good and since I feel like I still have lots of fun things to share here on my blog. Baby-related, of course. So what I've been doing the past month? Many things (as it's never boring with my two boys) but mostly taking care of my boys, getting a new double stroller (can you guess which one I got? ;)), trying to take care of the household (laundry times 4 takes time!) and lastly trying to study. Yeah my last psychology course (personality psychology, very interesting) which would require a lot more time but..the final exam is next week and hopefully I will pass it with a grade of 3 or better (in a scale of 1-5). So after that I'll be posting many more texts as usual. And pictures of my new stroller for sure!! Yes, it's the one I wanted: The Bugaboo donkey duo, all black version. Versatile, easy to maneuver and as the name says, what a donkey it is!! Just imagine yourself going to a supermarket and getting e

Time to say goodbye!

Hello everyone! What a beautiful day it is - and it's almost October! It is time to say goodbye to everyone whose been reading my blog and wrap things up, as they say :) So this blog was all about baby gear with my family's ups and downs, and from now on I will continue blogging (in Finnish, at least for now) but the topic has changed a lot. I've decided I wanna at least try something that I've been wanting to do (and try, for sure) for a very long time: try to get accepted to med-school. To be specific, to study dentistry  in Helsinki. Why? Well, it's academic but you also have to do something with your hands so it's perfect. I know, it's one hell of a ride, as one might say, I'll give a try. Maybe not this spring but spring 2018 I'll give it a real go!! Well see. At least I'll challenge myself and that's something. Studying at the age of 40 - yes, we will see :) Thank you everyone for reading my blog and I wish you all the best!!

Found a new pediatrician and starting to donate breast milk

Image
Hello! What a beautiful fall it's been so far - sunny and warm almost every day for the past week or so! Love it! Only thing that I'm not loving is that my little baby has gotten sick: he has a flu and also something wrong with his little tummy. Constipation, that is and we actually went to a doctor yesterday and found a really good pediatrician. You know, the one that is so empathetic, listens to you like there's no one else in the world and tries to find the best cure for you child. Luckily, I think we found a way together to make baby feel better (and poop, too) so it's already getting better. But I have to say I always get to scared when something happens to my children - that's what parents do: always worrying. I also started something that's really close to my heart and wanting to do that ever since my youngest son was born. That is I began to donate my breast milk since I have lots of it and I wanna help newborns who really needs it (and their mommy c

Sunny sunday, finding a new hobby for the fall and some Offerilla offers

Good evening! What an awesome sunday it's been: it was so warm I could actually wear my t-shirt and I was still sweating! And it's already september. Love this weather!!  So baby and I went for a little stroll and we found an outside flea market not too far from home and of course I did find something for the boys. I had my new (used) Bugaboo Frog-stroller with me and I actually put the baby in it but, as always, he didn't like the stroller. Yep, he's a carrier/sling -kinda baby that's how we really strolled ;) He just doesn't like to be put in the stroller so (suprisingly) my both double stroller (Easywalker) and my Bugaboo are on sale :D I know.. And it's funny because our toddler, you know my oldest son just loved sleeping in the stroller when he was a baby and he didn't like the carrier/sling at all. Talk about differences! And don't worry, I still have a travell stroller so I wont be totally stroller-less. Anyway, I started thinking about

New week with Netflix and other fun stuff

It's a new week again and first full (4-day) week with daycare for L. He really likes the place and it's easy to leave him there every morning: He just says "bye mom" and goes playing with other kids :D only thing is that he can't sleep there at nap time so he's really really tired in the afternoon when I go and pick him up. Oh well, I'm sure it gets better soon. Today they even have music play school (muskari in Finnish) and it's included in the price! As a parent I'm very happy with this daycare center. As for being a stay at home -mom and breastfeeding my other son and spending a lot of time in the couch, I realized I can have some entertainment at the same time :) so I ordered Netflix for a one month trial. How fun and easy, I got to say - and with all those tv-shows to choose from guess which one I chose? Friends!! A classic and perfect for today with a not-so-great night with the baby. So today's really a day off and tomorrow l'll do

Friday fun with the kids at the church

Happy friday, everyone! Today me and both kids (L is at home on fridays) went to our local church's gathering, called perhekahvila (ie. kids play, we sing songs, have coffee and meet other parents from our neighborhood). I think it's an excellent idea to have something like this for those parents who stay at home and take care of the kids and therefore don't usually get to meet other parents in the same situation. Kids have fun playing and adults get to have coffee and cookies - awesome!! At least for us it's almost mandatory to attend it every week because my toddler really needs to meet other kids and just have some action. Then when we got home and had lunch, they both fell asleep so mommy could write her blog :) Surprisingly now that I really got into this, they're both waking up :) So anyway, got to go now and you all have a great weekend! :)

Back to daycare

Where do these weeks disappear?! It seems it's always been a while since I've posted something. Anyway, here I am again and it's been a good week so far. L started at his new daycare center and so far so good. I mean it really seem like a great place for him for all their activities and what they teach to these children. Only 13 children total at this place which is great. Maybe we won't get all those bugs this fall as we did last spring. He's attending the daycare for four days each week so we have enough time to hang out just the 3 or 4 of us. We're currently going through the process of potty training, in co-operation with the daycare center so let's hope it works! Too many diapers in this household ;) If you're interested, I post new pictures every now and then on my instagram. You'll find me there as heiska78. That's all for now. Have a great week everyone! :)

Bugaboo it is :)

Image
I finally did it: bought my very first Bugaboo-stroller :) As a used one, of course and it's also an older model, the Frog. I got it as a tan coloured one with all the fun accessories such as wheeled board and leather covers for the handle and bumber bars. Like this one. I haven't used them a lot so far, just tried briefly but so far so good. It turned out that I wont need the double stroller that much anymore (baby doesn't like, carrier works so much better) so I sorta had to buy these. Yes, trying to convince myself and my husband :) I wont sell my doubles just quite yet because I'm sure we'll use them later while the baby grows older etc. but I'm just so happy I didn't buy any expensive doubles! Yes, as you can see you can't plan everything ahead. Honestly, it's so much easier to use the public transportation with a single stroller compared to double. I'm sure everyone agrees with that. And I love putting my baby in a carrier - he sleeps in i

My new best friend: eBay

Good afternoon, everyone! It was supposed to be a sunny day today, or a heatwave as they said..I'm still waiting for that. We're thinking about doing something special fun today since these last sunny days are almost gone, thanks to fall. But hey, what a great excuse to explore the internet and see what it has to offer me! ;) New strollers from eBay So I've talked about strollers for many months now (actually, that is all I've been talking about) and especially the Bugaboo ones. Everyone's - and especially my husband - getting tired of that topic but I'm not: I know, I still don't really need them but I want them so I can have them, right? So long story short, we've got a travel stroller ( Britax B-Agile, except we have the older model) which we use when we have only one child. Usually when the older one is at day care or when the baby's in a carrier/sling. Or when we're at a mall. I have nothing bad to say about this one but let's fa

It's still summer

Today's been such a beautiful and warm day so we've been outside all day. What a nice change compared to this past week with all the rain and the fact summer is over. Well, not quite :) We just walked to our closest mall called Sello, had lunch and then walked back - after we played at several different parks. L also got a new toy as we walked through a flea market (yay!) and he also got some other good, barely used toys. Days like this are the best - just hanging with my family :) Let's just hope this weather will last until the end of this month because long winter is ahead. Especially October and November are going to be sooo miserable..but let's not think about that yet. So my husband started at his new job this week and I was kinda worried how this week would go with two kids, on my own. Well it went so well and we had a good time. Parks, eating, naps..it's all about timing :) My husband and I also made a deal: If we lose enough weight until the end of Octobe

My new favorite babygear from Lekmer: nursing pillow and nursing fleece

Hello! I have share my latest purchases from Lekmer : a fleece hoodie  (Boob äitiys- ja imetyshuppari, Flex Fleece) which you can use already when you're pregnant and also when nursing, and a nursing pillow from Rätt Start. I kept waiting and waiting to place my order since I always try to find things second-hand and therefore save a few euros. This time I decided it's better to buy them brand-new and it's been worth it: the fleece is so comfy and just perfect for outings with the toddler and the baby. While the toddler plays outside at the park, which is where we go all the time, I get to take care of the baby and nurse him - and my precious boobs wont get cold :) It's a win-win for everyone! And it has many pockets for keys, cell phone etc. so it really is versatile. Only thing that I dont like is that I didn't order it when I was pregnant!! So I totally recommend it and it's on sale for now so you'll save a few euros yourself. The nursing pillow I go

Baby has a name and a new week ahead!

Good morning, everyone! Baby finally has a name and you'll find what it is on instagram  along with new pictures :) The christening party we held this saturday was beautiful. Food, atmosphere, people..just lovely and I'm happy we can finally call our baby boy with a real name :) My husband also starts work today so that's a big change for our family - we've all been here at our home 24/7 (ok, almost) this summer so it's gonna feel weird not have him here all the time. Although I'm happy for him - he got a job and that's whats important. Okay, time to go and take care of my babies since they're waking up. Enjoy your day!!

Final sales @ Lekmer and other weekend fun

Good evening! What a relaxing weekend we've had: lots of playing outside with the kids (ok, just with the older one so far) and enjoying the last sunny days of summer so far. Let's hope next week and especially next weekend will still be nice so we can be outside as we have our baby's christening party on saturday. He'll finally have officially a name then! :) I also made it to the big supermarket yesterday with my toddler and got everything for the party. Baby stayed home with his daddy - first time for an hour and a half. So much easier to go get stuff with one child only. Next week will be spent cleaning, planning the party and preparing & baking everything. Lot of work but it'll be fun :) I'm gonna bake two cakes since some of our guests will need a gluten-free food so that'll be double for everything. I'm making this blueberry cake for those who have a gluten-free diet - sorry, this recipe is only in Finnish. Freely translated it means "

August is here and back to school shopping at Stockmann!

Good morning!! I just can't believe how fast this summer has gone by and it's already august! My husband starts at his new job in less than two weeks (he found a job, yay!) and we still haven't had our summer vacation here in Finland I talked about. It just seems too much right now and even going to a shopping mall is too much with toddler running around the place and baby wanting to eat every 30 mins..we'll see now. Although we can't complain..our relatives came for a visit and they have 4 sons aged 1-8. That is something and they're even expecting one more! I call that brave ;) Our family life is getting back to normal: the toddler sleeps all night long and the jealousy towards the baby is slowly going away. And baby? Well, he's a sleeper so we got lucky this time: sometimes he even sleeps 4-5 hours in a row and that's awesome!! I get to sleep, love it. Now that schools are starting again, it's the time of the year you need to buy all new back

Planning a short summer vacation with kids in Finland

It's time to think about a little trip with our family: a road trip somewhere in Finland. Yes, nothing too stressful and especially not too far :) Since I'm breastfeeding we need several stops along the way plus baby can't sit on a car seat for too long (because he can't sit yet) so we're literally making a 2 hr trip to a (at least) 6 hr trip ;) Yes, good times. We're thinking about travelling to Tampere which is only 2 hrs (I mean, 6 hrs for us) away from Espoo. Just 2 nights in a hotel and maybe going for the sites they have - such as Särkänniemi . That place should entertain our 2 year old just fine :) For accommodation (hotel) I already checked Booking   and ebookers . Radisson Blu  -hotel also usually has good summer deals and I'm especially looking for those for the family. I think it's gonna rain next week so we need a good hotel and lot's of stuff to do there in case we're stuck in there. So this is our very short summer vacation this

Blog has a new name and other changes on the way!

Good morning, everyone! I decided it's time to have a blog makeover and change the name: Work and babies is the new one - only shorter from the old one so not really a big change :) And the blog's address will still be the same because I'm not sure how to change that without losing all the posts etc. doing it. From now on I will focus more on the current life situation, which is me being a stay-at-home -mom for about a year or even longer, and therefore focus more on the things related to that. I know, at some point during this past spring I wrote about our house renovation project because that was such a big part of our lives. I will probably write about things like that too but only to mention them - my focus will be my family and the ups and downs that come with it, literally and seriously speaking. I also haven't had too many pictures of my family yet on this blog and that is simply because I want some privacy for my little ones. That being said, I do have an

Sunday funday with the kids and trying to find new outfit for the christening party

Good afternoon! How are you all? I'm good, had a relatively good nights sleep and therefore the day's looking bright :) Even though it's not that bright what comes to the weather - it's not sunny at all. Maybe our summer continues again next week? My parents came over to our house yesterday and I have to say it felt like a day off; I only had one child, the baby, to take care off as L was playing with my dad / his grandpa. What a relaxing afternoon we had! I even had the time to drink my coffee out on the terrace without any interruptions - perfect. That is all I need every now and then. And I do enjoy to spend time with my son but sometimes mommy just needs a few minutes to herself and then feels so much better :) Yes, that's what sleep deprivation does to you. I will talk about that some other time although I do feel okay most of the time - I am not that tired as some mothers are. Lucky me. I did mention on my yesterday's post that my baby's christen

Baby's gaining more weight, dealing with a toddler and planning a christening party

So baby had his check-up today at the health care center. He's gained more weight than I expected and grown a lot too (3,8 kg / 53 cm) so we're doing good :) Next check-up is in two weeks so let's hope this continues. He also sleeps quite well, you know, for a little baby; 3-4 hrs in a row which would be just perfect. And then there's the but: our toddler has started waking up at night, usually around 3 am and he keeps screaming for some time - feels like 2 hrs but probably closer to 30 minutes or so. It sucks, for many reasons. First of all, I don't even get that 3-4 hrs of sleep and now I'm exhausted. More strong coffee for me, please! Luckily he does (eventually) fall back asleep and then sleeps for good 3-4 hrs. It sucks for him too because he does need more sleep during the night. When he sleeps well, he eats well and that goes the other way too. Let's just hope this is a phase that'll go away soon. The nurse, which I met today at health care center

Baby's due date, thinking about new baby gear and other stuff

Image
Good morning! Baby's due date is here - and he's almost 4 weeks old :) Things are going well, although little L got really sick on wednesday nite and we had a few rough nites because of that. I'm fine with my 3 hour sleep but when I don't get that, I'm exhausted. I mean, baby sleeps 3 hrs in a row which is just fine, then eats and sleeps again but big brother kept waking up every hour. He had ear infection (again) and high fewer. He seems better today so let's keep our fingers crossed. He hasn't eaten anything for days but finally had breakfast this morning so it looks promising. I hate when my babies are sick :( Baby gear Yes, my favorite topic :) Here's a picture of my stroller, Easywalker Duo, which I bought as a used one, and I just love them :) Very sturdy, yet not too heavy to push even with two kids, the baby basket is big enough and at least my baby sleeps there almost too well. And all that for 220€ so I can't complain! My bag hangs in

Introducing LaRedoute online store and my day so far

Today I'm introducing you a new French online store called LaRedoute . It delivers orders to over 150 countries (for free when your order is at least 89€) and they have brands such as Esprit, Pepe Jeans, Clarks and Numph in their selection. Mainly their products are clothes and homeware. Always nice to have new options when it comes to shopping online! :) Today's been a weird day with the baby. He usually falls asleep again at 10 am after feeding him but today he just didn't wanna go to sleep - not until 12 pm. It's funny how fast their schedule changes: he's 3 weeks old today and he's already staying up longer periods compared to only last week. That's when he fell asleep almost as soon as he had eaten. I do have to say he sleeps longer periods during the night which is absolutely fabulous :) I need to sleep too :) Today we also got new furniture to our front-yard. Yay for that! It's so much nicer to have proper seating area when having guests, or j

New flea market found and a tip of the day

It's new week again, and baby and I went for a walk to a somewhat nearby flea market. I have to say, I was (or went to) in heaven!! So many good quality baby clothes for such a low price - I dont see the point in paying lots of money for baby clothes since the baby will wear them for such a short time. And I'm talking about 20 cents per piece :) And I also found a sling to carry my baby which I really needed. My baby sleeps ok in the stroller but since he was born prematurely he loves to cuddle and stay really close to me so I had to buy one. And again, for a bargain price of 5€ :) Normal price is somewhere 50-60€ so I did great! Other than that, we've been getting to know the baby: meaning, we've been staying at home a lot, taking naps together, going for walks..just the way I wanted. Nothing too stressful for anyone. Tip of the day My mom brought me a new copy of this finnish baby Magazine "Vauva" (which is baby in finnish). So they had some tips for

Rainy day, visiting the new day care center, McDonald's for breakfast and other things stay at home moms do :)

Good evening! Today I finally got to see L's new day care center - the one he goes to only this month. Luckily I liked and it's only for this month and next month he's staying at home. Yay!! We also went to McDonald's for breakfast which was sort of a joke but hey, you gotta try everything :) I didn't sleep very well last night so baby and I had a nap today too so that was nice and much needed. It was also our 4th engagement anniversary so we had cake with coffee. Yes, my days are very simple right now and I love it :) Other than that life with the baby (and toddler as well) is good. Baby has gained enough weight and actually weighs now more than he did when he was born and that's awesome. Our home is slowly coming together and only few things are missing - that's what moving does :) oh well, I'll find everything eventually. Talk to you later! Have a good one:)

Second week with the newborn

Good evening! Hope everyone's had a relaxing weekend. Mine's been just fine, with sunshine and some heat yesterday and then rain today. I even got to go outside today for a little stroll with the baby and toddler - with the new stroller, of course. I love it, it's the best one I've ever purchased!! Both kids slept at the same time and me and my husband had coffee on the terrace while they slept. Perfect :) So this week's been good. Baby sleeps 2-3 hrs every night, then eats, then sleeps again, then eats..and I'm fine with that schedule. As long as I don't need to get up every hour I'm fine - I get to sleep during the day from monday to thursday while our toddler, little L, is at the day care. Not that I ever sleep but it feels good to have that option. Right now all my time goes to planning on the christening party which we're having in august. Food, catering, my clothes..everything. You gotta be early on these things, right? ;) Our toddler is

Discount codes for the summer

Good morning (or afternoon, I may say)!! What a great way to wake up after a somewhat good night sleep :) We had a rough night with little L because when he goes to sleep, he always needs his mommy to tuck him in - and now I'm sort of occupied with the baby and I don't have enough time to do that. I feel so bad and he gets so sad and mad at the same time. Luckily he fell asleep in his own bed and slept through the night. This constant guilt is killing me :( Well, I guess it just takes time. For today, I have some discount codes for you to share if you're interested - from travelling to shopping. Some of these are in Finnish only - sorry about that: Easyloma (travelling) Lisäalennnusta lapsista 100€ Easyloman matkoilla lapset matkustavat aina edullisesti. Back at new home with the newborn

Hello everyone! What a week it's been: I had my baby last tuesday and we're back at our new home. Let me just say it was a bit of a chaos, if I may call it. In the middle of the moving process on tuesday my contractions just kept coming and coming, stronger so we had to leave everything in the hands of our (the best ever) parents. They took care of little L, put everything in final place here at our home, cleaned it, cleaned our old place..what else? I am so grateful for all their help - we could not have done without them. Lucky us :) I stayed at the hospital until friday with the baby because he was born prematurely (pregnancy week 36+2) so they had to make sure he didn't lose too much his birthweight. He did, almost 10%, so we're really keeping track on how he's eating etc. Hope all goes well in the end and he'll start packing on pounds cause he's so tiny!! Other than that, life's good and we're so happy. All of us, even L although he is a bit

Our baby was born yesterday

Our little baby boy was born yesterday June 21, 2016 at 8 in the evening. Almost 4 weeks too early and we're staying at the hospital for at least two nights. He's so tiny and so cute - my heart is full. I love my children and my family. Now I will concentrate on him, moving process which took place yesterday, can wait. Both grandparents are helping, either with the move or with little L - who by the way seems like a giant compared to the baby :) And what else. .oh yes, my husband got a job yesterday. Permanent position. What a day!! Life is good right now and now I have everything.
