Planning a short summer vacation with kids in Finland

It's time to think about a little trip with our family: a road trip somewhere in Finland. Yes, nothing too stressful and especially not too far :) Since I'm breastfeeding we need several stops along the way plus baby can't sit on a car seat for too long (because he can't sit yet) so we're literally making a 2 hr trip to a (at least) 6 hr trip ;) Yes, good times. We're thinking about travelling to Tampere which is only 2 hrs (I mean, 6 hrs for us) away from Espoo. Just 2 nights in a hotel and maybe going for the sites they have - such as Särkänniemi . That place should entertain our 2 year old just fine :) For accommodation (hotel) I already checked Booking   and ebookers . Radisson Blu  -hotel also usually has good summer deals and I'm especially looking for those for the family. I think it's gonna rain next week so we need a good hotel and lot's of stuff to do there in case we're stuck in there. So this is our very short summer vacation this

Blog has a new name and other changes on the way!

Good morning, everyone! I decided it's time to have a blog makeover and change the name: Work and babies is the new one - only shorter from the old one so not really a big change :) And the blog's address will still be the same because I'm not sure how to change that without losing all the posts etc. doing it. From now on I will focus more on the current life situation, which is me being a stay-at-home -mom for about a year or even longer, and therefore focus more on the things related to that. I know, at some point during this past spring I wrote about our house renovation project because that was such a big part of our lives. I will probably write about things like that too but only to mention them - my focus will be my family and the ups and downs that come with it, literally and seriously speaking. I also haven't had too many pictures of my family yet on this blog and that is simply because I want some privacy for my little ones. That being said, I do have an

Sunday funday with the kids and trying to find new outfit for the christening party

Good afternoon! How are you all? I'm good, had a relatively good nights sleep and therefore the day's looking bright :) Even though it's not that bright what comes to the weather - it's not sunny at all. Maybe our summer continues again next week? My parents came over to our house yesterday and I have to say it felt like a day off; I only had one child, the baby, to take care off as L was playing with my dad / his grandpa. What a relaxing afternoon we had! I even had the time to drink my coffee out on the terrace without any interruptions - perfect. That is all I need every now and then. And I do enjoy to spend time with my son but sometimes mommy just needs a few minutes to herself and then feels so much better :) Yes, that's what sleep deprivation does to you. I will talk about that some other time although I do feel okay most of the time - I am not that tired as some mothers are. Lucky me. I did mention on my yesterday's post that my baby's christen

Baby's gaining more weight, dealing with a toddler and planning a christening party

So baby had his check-up today at the health care center. He's gained more weight than I expected and grown a lot too (3,8 kg / 53 cm) so we're doing good :) Next check-up is in two weeks so let's hope this continues. He also sleeps quite well, you know, for a little baby; 3-4 hrs in a row which would be just perfect. And then there's the but: our toddler has started waking up at night, usually around 3 am and he keeps screaming for some time - feels like 2 hrs but probably closer to 30 minutes or so. It sucks, for many reasons. First of all, I don't even get that 3-4 hrs of sleep and now I'm exhausted. More strong coffee for me, please! Luckily he does (eventually) fall back asleep and then sleeps for good 3-4 hrs. It sucks for him too because he does need more sleep during the night. When he sleeps well, he eats well and that goes the other way too. Let's just hope this is a phase that'll go away soon. The nurse, which I met today at health care center

Baby's due date, thinking about new baby gear and other stuff

Image
Good morning! Baby's due date is here - and he's almost 4 weeks old :) Things are going well, although little L got really sick on wednesday nite and we had a few rough nites because of that. I'm fine with my 3 hour sleep but when I don't get that, I'm exhausted. I mean, baby sleeps 3 hrs in a row which is just fine, then eats and sleeps again but big brother kept waking up every hour. He had ear infection (again) and high fewer. He seems better today so let's keep our fingers crossed. He hasn't eaten anything for days but finally had breakfast this morning so it looks promising. I hate when my babies are sick :( Baby gear Yes, my favorite topic :) Here's a picture of my stroller, Easywalker Duo, which I bought as a used one, and I just love them :) Very sturdy, yet not too heavy to push even with two kids, the baby basket is big enough and at least my baby sleeps there almost too well. And all that for 220€ so I can't complain! My bag hangs in

Introducing LaRedoute online store and my day so far

Today I'm introducing you a new French online store called LaRedoute . It delivers orders to over 150 countries (for free when your order is at least 89€) and they have brands such as Esprit, Pepe Jeans, Clarks and Numph in their selection. Mainly their products are clothes and homeware. Always nice to have new options when it comes to shopping online! :) Today's been a weird day with the baby. He usually falls asleep again at 10 am after feeding him but today he just didn't wanna go to sleep - not until 12 pm. It's funny how fast their schedule changes: he's 3 weeks old today and he's already staying up longer periods compared to only last week. That's when he fell asleep almost as soon as he had eaten. I do have to say he sleeps longer periods during the night which is absolutely fabulous :) I need to sleep too :) Today we also got new furniture to our front-yard. Yay for that! It's so much nicer to have proper seating area when having guests, or j

New flea market found and a tip of the day

It's new week again, and baby and I went for a walk to a somewhat nearby flea market. I have to say, I was (or went to) in heaven!! So many good quality baby clothes for such a low price - I dont see the point in paying lots of money for baby clothes since the baby will wear them for such a short time. And I'm talking about 20 cents per piece :) And I also found a sling to carry my baby which I really needed. My baby sleeps ok in the stroller but since he was born prematurely he loves to cuddle and stay really close to me so I had to buy one. And again, for a bargain price of 5€ :) Normal price is somewhere 50-60€ so I did great! Other than that, we've been getting to know the baby: meaning, we've been staying at home a lot, taking naps together, going for walks..just the way I wanted. Nothing too stressful for anyone. Tip of the day My mom brought me a new copy of this finnish baby Magazine "Vauva" (which is baby in finnish). So they had some tips for

Rainy day, visiting the new day care center, McDonald's for breakfast and other things stay at home moms do :)

Good evening! Today I finally got to see L's new day care center - the one he goes to only this month. Luckily I liked and it's only for this month and next month he's staying at home. Yay!! We also went to McDonald's for breakfast which was sort of a joke but hey, you gotta try everything :) I didn't sleep very well last night so baby and I had a nap today too so that was nice and much needed. It was also our 4th engagement anniversary so we had cake with coffee. Yes, my days are very simple right now and I love it :) Other than that life with the baby (and toddler as well) is good. Baby has gained enough weight and actually weighs now more than he did when he was born and that's awesome. Our home is slowly coming together and only few things are missing - that's what moving does :) oh well, I'll find everything eventually. Talk to you later! Have a good one:)

Second week with the newborn

Good evening! Hope everyone's had a relaxing weekend. Mine's been just fine, with sunshine and some heat yesterday and then rain today. I even got to go outside today for a little stroll with the baby and toddler - with the new stroller, of course. I love it, it's the best one I've ever purchased!! Both kids slept at the same time and me and my husband had coffee on the terrace while they slept. Perfect :) So this week's been good. Baby sleeps 2-3 hrs every night, then eats, then sleeps again, then eats..and I'm fine with that schedule. As long as I don't need to get up every hour I'm fine - I get to sleep during the day from monday to thursday while our toddler, little L, is at the day care. Not that I ever sleep but it feels good to have that option. Right now all my time goes to planning on the christening party which we're having in august. Food, catering, my clothes..everything. You gotta be early on these things, right? ;) Our toddler is
