Affordable Sappee family vacation with Offerilla

Image
Hey everyone! Gosh, time goes by fast - it's been almost a month since my last blogpost. We travelled here in Finland this past month so I guess that always makes busy daily life even busier with planning the vacation and going to the actual vacation. With kids life is always busy but not complaining! :) That being said, here's a short look on the Sappee vacation. * In collaboration with Offerilla (this post contains ads)*. Sappee and Offerilla  With the pandemic going on, travelling is still very important to our family. Being stuck at home a lot as I still work remotely and not being able to see people a lot, it's so important to make sure we can arrange something fun for our family every now and then. That's why we decided to head to Sappee  for two nights which offers skiing hills and other outdoor stuff for especially families. It's about 2 hour drive from Helsinki which is just perfect for us since our youngest son naps and that gives him the perfect timing f...

Happy mother's day!

Hey everyone and happy mother's day to all celebrating it, in one way or another :) Mine has been spent outdoors as always spending time with my family. I made a little cake this morning filled with strawberries and cream, and it's all gone already :) so nothing special yet so very special to me <3  Self-quarantine continues We're still in self quarantine at home, going outdoors to new parks a little more and by doing that, slowly returning to normal life. Being extra careful with washing our hands multiple times and not licking everything we see (the kiddos, not me!!) In Finland, schools and day care centers are returning back to normal next thursday but we decided to keep the kids at home this whole month. They go back to day care in june and then again stay home all july. We're in no hurry to go back, daddy still works from home and I kinda like this. Keeping my loved ones near me :)

Self-quarantine day 3: disinfecting cleaning at Offerilla

Good morning! *this post contains an ad with Offerilla / kaupallinen yhteistyö Offerillan kanssa". Disinfecting cleaning at Offerilla  Day 3 at Self-quarantine has started and so far we're healthy and haven't catch the virus. We've been cleaning the house non-stop for a week now - despite the fact we're ok but just to keep germs outta house. That's been easy to accomplish since the kids have been at the daycare during the day but that's slightly changed now with us all being in the house 24/7.  Offerilla  has every household's dream deal - a 3 hour  disinfecting cleaning  for 69€! Wohoo, that should clear all the viruses and germs away :) Check out the link to see where it applies. This is valid for 6 months so no needto hurry up what comes to using it - you have plenty of time :) I think this ones a keeper and def wort trying if this would positively affect on your health. What are your weapons against this awful virus that has turned this world ...

Liput Woltti-trampoliinipuistoon kahdelle etuhintaan!

Image
Heippa kaikki! *tämä postaus on suomeksi ja sisältää mainoksen / this post is in finnish only and contains an ad* Mikäli viikonlopuista puuttuu ohjelmaa, niin  Woltti-trampoliinipuistoon  kannattaa suunnata - etenkin pikkuvintiöiden kanssa :) meillä yritetään ulkoilla joka päivä ainakin tunnin verran, mutta etenkin ilmojen kylmettyä tai sateen iskiessä sisäleikkipaikat nostaa suosiotaan. Tuossa puistossa näyttäisi mainoksen perusteella riittävän tekemistä, joten tämä hyvä vaihtoehto jo koetuille hoplopeille :) Halloween on siis taas täällä ja meidän kotona vilahti yksi jos useampi Batman :) Rooliasut tehtiin uffista 2e ostetusta mustasta verhokankaasta, josta tehtiin viitat. Maskit tein leikkaamalla kartongista batmanin muotoiset palat ja kuminauhaa taakse, niin pysyi päässä hyvin. Samoin vyön tein keltaisesta ja mustasta kartongista. Yhden setin hinnaksi tuli noin 1e :) muutoin mustat housut, sukat ja paita päälle, ja batman on syntynyt ;) Miten teillä vietetään Hallow...

Syyslomalle tekemistä: Woltti-trampoliinipuisto/ Fall vacation @Woltti trampolin park

Aurinkoiset terveiset Kreikasta! * This blogpost is in Finnish because it contains an ad that applies only in Helsinki, Finland * Sillä aikaa kun meidän perhe viettää ansaittua ja kovin odotettua syyslomaa Kreikassa, Rodoksella niin katse kääntyy jo kotiinpaluuseen ja syyslomaan.

Syysloma ja Lomarengas - Fall vacation with Lomarengas

Image
Good morning, dear readers! * this post includes an ad * September is quickly turning to october, and most people - at least here in Finland - like to do something special on their fall vacation. Not everyone wabt to fly outside the country but instead have a vacation in Finland and enjoy the beautiful fall colours. For that there's  Lomarengas  and the best part is that tgey have good quality cabins all over Finland. This year we're actually flying to Greece on fall vacation since we did this Finland vacation-thing this past summer. All I gotta say is that these cabins are worth taking into deep consideration. I love the cooler but not cold weather, hikes up north, picking berries, fishing and just spending time with the family. My kids are 100% outdoorsy kinda people, as in they love to explore the nature and that fresh air does some magic to their heads ;) they sleep like babies (or like middle-aged men :D) so thats another great reason for this kinda vacation. Anyone wit...

Maternity leave in Finland

Image
Hey everyone! Kids are back in daycare and summer is over even though the weather's been nice lately here in Finland. That's not the case every year since when school's start, summer always seem to have gone - so let's enjoy these last warm days and nights too :) At the beginning of summer I was so concerned how this summer would go as a family of 5, ie with 3 kiddos. All I'm gonna say is that it wasn't the easiest at some times but I learned a lot from my kids and overall it was a great summer. Luckily me being home, my middle son gets to stay home on mondays and therefore he only has four days at daycare. He's only 3 so that works for us just fine. Our 5 year old likes to go to daycare because that's where all his friends are and there just aren't that many 5 year olds who stay at home. In Finland you can stay home and take care of your kids that are under 3, and you get a little compensation for that too, without losing your job if you have a p...

Happy midsummer! Hauskaa juhannusta!

Hey everyone! Tomorrow we celebrate juhannus aka midsummwe here in the nordic countries. That means most people will go spend it at their cottages or usually somewhere other than the city. Well, we're gonna be an exception this year since we're staying home :) the city will literally be empty and dead (especially Helsinki) so that means we're headed to an amusement park called Linnanmäki. Short lines, no waiting - perhaps? And maybe some park and to Oittaa where they have an angry birds park, a beach suitable for little kids, a cafe and a sauna. Other than that, it's gonna be familytime <3 and of course, baby's first midsummer! What are your plans? Either way, enjoy!

Moppi cleaning services in Finland :)

Fall is almost here, supposedly after this week and it's getting time to get your house cleaned :) No, you can clean your house anytime but this swift from summer to fall is a perfect time for that, if you ask me. Only thing is I hate cleaning: first you have to move all the toys near and far the couch so you actually have to clean before cleaning. Crazy, and who has time for that? Well, I do since I do it everyday but that's only for making this house liveable but that's not ebough, no. I need to have deep-cleaning and that's when I call a cleaner for help :) Not only it saves you time, it's actually quite affordable these days - not only for the rich and famous but for us 'regular' human beings as well. Second question is, which company do I choose? I don't have an answer to that but I can recommend Moppi cleaning services here in Finland. Why? Because they have an excellent online booking system. Is it affordable? I can't answer you on tha...

Winter is here and planning our next trip with Trip Finder

Good morning, everyone! I'm slowly starting this workweek so I decided what better way to start it than blogging? :) Most people here in Finland have this week off as they are on their winter holiday. And what a week they have: lots of snow, sun but also a really cold weather. Currently it's -13 degrees and that's cold for me! I'm so lucky I don't have to travel to work today or tomorrow and I can just work from home. I'm not a fan of cold weather ;) But for those vacationing this week - super week! This weekend was all about doing stuff outdoors: playing at a theme park and playing in the snow at my parents house. My little boys love it and when we finally have a week off from being sick, you really need to take a full advantage of it :) So playing outdoors it is for us! And as I started this blog talking about vacationing, it's something that's happening for us in just a few weeks as easter approaches. Vacation that is. We're not sure yet w...

Vappu in Finland and a tip :)

Image
Vappu This weekend is gonna be so much fun since we have monday off due to Vappu celebrations here in Finland. Lot's of things to do for young and old all weekend long, and a real carnival thing going on :) If you're planning on staying somewhere (Helsinki, Espoo or some other cities here in Finland) over night and avoiding the public transportation/long taxi lines, you can always book a hotel room . Then there's no rush to leave a party at night, you can sleep in (unless you're travelling with kids!) and enjoy a nice buffet breakfast. Yum! On monday, which is a national day off (at least for most finns), people usually go to a picnic  (sorry, that link is only in finnish). Either in Helsinki or just at their own home in a terrace or a nearby park. Don't forget to wear your high school graduation hat! :) Okay, as soon as I start writing my baby wants to go to bed so I better go now. Have a great weekend and enjoy Vappu in you're in Finland! :)

Canada wins worlds in ice hockey and baby gear from Babyshop

Good evening! So it was an ice hockey filled past weekend with Canada winning the world championships , and Finland (winning) the silver medal. I'm not that into hockey but I did watch the games here and there - until I got the stomach flu :( Please, let this be the last one we're dealing with this spring (or in a long while if we're lucky). First my husband got it on saturday night and then it was my turn. Today's been such a lazy day with me sleeping all day long. Sorry, my posts are a bit depressing but hey, this is how our life is these days :) Baby gear from Babyshop In case you're interested in buying new baby gear this spring (clothes, strollers or other accessories), you need to check out Babyshop . They have ongoing sales going on through this spring and their web pages are in English also, so that should be helpful for non-native finnish readers. You can order stuff online so that's always helpful - especially if you're sick like I am and ca...

Stomach flu..again and Offerilla online shopping

Yes, it's time for stomach flu..again, and this time the victim is little L :( Poor little guy - he can't eat anything and he missed his spring party today at day care. We were just heading to the day care center to see him and other children at his group perform but unfortunately we missed it. Well, this is how life is with little children. Hopefully this one will be over soon and I hope I wont get it this time. It was awful last time I had it..not fun and especially not fun for pregnant woman! And I hope I wont get it this time since time is literally running out for me: I'll start my maternity leave in less than four weeks so I basically can't be out from work before that. Too embarrassing or something!! Offerilla So if you're interested in some online shopping, like I am, you should check out  Offerilla   and see what they have to offer you. This works only in Finland (at least for now), in different cities and it's formerly known as Groupon. They have o...

New local offers at Offerilla (Finland)

Hello! Offerilla is the "new Groupon/Citydeal" which I personally used a lot to get great offers on local deals such as beauty, hair-cuts, restaurants, housekeeping, cars, other services..you name it. This one is new and works only in Finland, though, but for those interested in finding great deals, check it out! Through this service you can buy gift certificates in an exceptionally low price, as the offer is usually -50% of the normal price. I used it a lot some time ago (when Groupon still existed) on hair-cuts and restaurants, and it was a great way to explore new services. How about yoga  for 19€ or middle-eastern  (food) menu for two for only 34,90€?  These are Helsinki/Espoo based services but they do have services in other cities in Finland too (Turku, Tampere for example). Have a great evening!

Introduction to my blog

Hello everyone and thanks for joining my blog! I'm a 37 years old working mother of almost two living a hectic life in Helsinki, Finland. Almost two means I'm expecting our second son who's due in July and our older one is a boy as well. So very exciting times :) So why am I here, blogging about my life? Well, I am interested in basically all the baby-related gear there is and my blog will mostly be about that. What's actually useful, where you can get it and is it worth buying it all new or do I prefer buying used ones. These days it doesn't matter we you live - Finland or some other country  - because you buy (almost) everything online. That's one of the reasons I decided to write my blog in english instead of my native finnish so this could be helpful for everyone. I also used to live in the US some years ago, so that also made the decision about the choice of language easier. Besides baby-related gear, I'm interested in health-related issues - especi...
