Final sales @ Lekmer and other weekend fun

Good evening! What a relaxing weekend we've had: lots of playing outside with the kids (ok, just with the older one so far) and enjoying the last sunny days of summer so far. Let's hope next week and especially next weekend will still be nice so we can be outside as we have our baby's christening party on saturday. He'll finally have officially a name then! :) I also made it to the big supermarket yesterday with my toddler and got everything for the party. Baby stayed home with his daddy - first time for an hour and a half. So much easier to go get stuff with one child only. Next week will be spent cleaning, planning the party and preparing & baking everything. Lot of work but it'll be fun :) I'm gonna bake two cakes since some of our guests will need a gluten-free food so that'll be double for everything. I'm making this blueberry cake for those who have a gluten-free diet - sorry, this recipe is only in Finnish. Freely translated it means ...

Sunday funday with the kids and trying to find new outfit for the christening party

Good afternoon! How are you all? I'm good, had a relatively good nights sleep and therefore the day's looking bright :) Even though it's not that bright what comes to the weather - it's not sunny at all. Maybe our summer continues again next week? My parents came over to our house yesterday and I have to say it felt like a day off; I only had one child, the baby, to take care off as L was playing with my dad / his grandpa. What a relaxing afternoon we had! I even had the time to drink my coffee out on the terrace without any interruptions - perfect. That is all I need every now and then. And I do enjoy to spend time with my son but sometimes mommy just needs a few minutes to herself and then feels so much better :) Yes, that's what sleep deprivation does to you. I will talk about that some other time although I do feel okay most of the time - I am not that tired as some mothers are. Lucky me. I did mention on my yesterday's post that my baby's christen...

Baby's gaining more weight, dealing with a toddler and planning a christening party

So baby had his check-up today at the health care center. He's gained more weight than I expected and grown a lot too (3,8 kg / 53 cm) so we're doing good :) Next check-up is in two weeks so let's hope this continues. He also sleeps quite well, you know, for a little baby; 3-4 hrs in a row which would be just perfect. And then there's the but: our toddler has started waking up at night, usually around 3 am and he keeps screaming for some time - feels like 2 hrs but probably closer to 30 minutes or so. It sucks, for many reasons. First of all, I don't even get that 3-4 hrs of sleep and now I'm exhausted. More strong coffee for me, please! Luckily he does (eventually) fall back asleep and then sleeps for good 3-4 hrs. It sucks for him too because he does need more sleep during the night. When he sleeps well, he eats well and that goes the other way too. Let's just hope this is a phase that'll go away soon. The nurse, which I met today at health care center...

Second week with the newborn

Good evening! Hope everyone's had a relaxing weekend. Mine's been just fine, with sunshine and some heat yesterday and then rain today. I even got to go outside today for a little stroll with the baby and toddler - with the new stroller, of course. I love it, it's the best one I've ever purchased!! Both kids slept at the same time and me and my husband had coffee on the terrace while they slept. Perfect :) So this week's been good. Baby sleeps 2-3 hrs every night, then eats, then sleeps again, then eats..and I'm fine with that schedule. As long as I don't need to get up every hour I'm fine - I get to sleep during the day from monday to thursday while our toddler, little L, is at the day care. Not that I ever sleep but it feels good to have that option. Right now all my time goes to planning on the christening party which we're having in august. Food, catering, my clothes..everything. You gotta be early on these things, right? ;) Our toddler is ...
