Babywearing with a toddler in a Vero Moda wool jacket

Image
Sunny but cold wednesday to you all! It's getting colder here in Finland but today we're experiencing something different: sunshine. It's supposed to snow tomorrow, brrr, so I had to go and buy new clothes for me and my kids. I still carry my younger son every now and then, so I decided I'm not gonna buy a babywearing jacket (because they're so expensive) but I do need something that can occasionally fit my child in it. And just like that, I found a perfect winter coat with wool-blend in it and in a nice grey colour (in one of those 50 shades of grey, hahaa..anyway)! This one, of which I posted a pic on my instagram account, fits almost perfectly over me and my little one. I mean, my little one is already 1year and 4 months old, and it still fits us :) The best part in this jacket is that it has a cover over my neck/between me and my baby so no wind can go under my jacket and freeze us. That's what even most babywearing jacket don't have (and I've had...

Getting ready for work and shopping online

Hey everyone! It's (again) been so long since I've written the last time and all I gotta say, time flies :) My littlest guy is very active and energetic whenever he's up so me-time is kinda limited these days. Not that I'm complaining - I love every second of it and especially because soon my days as a stay-at-home mom are over since I'll be going back to work: either next month or in January the very latest. My littlest guy will start at the same day-care center his older son goes to (yay!) and we'll start practicing early next month. Yikes!! I know, he's officially a toddler already but he'll (just like his older brother) will always be my babies <3 So what else is new? Other than going back to work and learning how to wear clothes other than sweatpants :D That obviously means shopping for new clothes and what else is better for busy moms than shopping online . I mean, you can always go to the mall and shop there but if you have two kids with y...

Baby learned to sleep through the night

Good morning! I've been up since 5.50 am, thanks to the fact our baby/little toddler finally learned to sleep in his own bed (yay!) so I sleep really well now, too. No more tossing and turning in the night and wake up super tired in the morning. This is awesome! A little over a year ago I posted a blog about our older child and how he didn't sleep that well so we had to go through a sleeping school . Well, that worked for some time (he was 11 months when we went to sleeping school) but he went back to his old, bad habits of not sleeping at night when he was around 1,5-2 year old. So that's why I was a bit worried of how I'd cope with it with a new baby but it turned out babies can be totally different. Our little guy, aka baby, learned to sleep in his own bed, from 9pm-6am in just 3 nights!! I'm still a bit surprised, in a good way of course, that how easily that transformation from sleeping in our bed to sleeping through the night in his own bed went. I think ...

My toddler turned 3

How fast time flies?! I mean, my toddler just turned 3 last week and we basically celebrated all week. We had an actual b-day party on saturday with close family and everything went well (even the cake I baked!!) except for the fact that my baby got sick. Ear-infection, ouch :( Poor little guy - he's got a runny nose and he keeps coughing all night long. He even has antibiotics for a week and clearly they're already working since he slept just a bit better last night. I'm hoping I'm not getting it since taking care of two little ones is hectic enough so with a flu it would be just too much. So just a few words of the b-day party..I did bake a cake. By myself. I asked my toddler what he wanted and he wanted a car-cake. Just like last year ! Expect that I actually made a cake that looked like a car - this year I 'cheated' and made just a regular cake and bought one these to put on top of the cake. Easy! And everyone liked my cake, especially my little one. Unfo...

Introducing Finnish Aarrekid children's clothing brand

Image
It's finally beginning to feel like spring is finally just around the corner - it's super sunny outside and not too cold either. I don't mind cold weather as long as it's sunny outside. I feel like I have so much more energy getting up and I blame the sun for that :) Talking about spring, for me it means new, bright clothes and less clothes for sure. After wearing dark and heavy clothes all winter it really is time for something new. This time I'll introduce you Aarrekid which is a Finnish children's clothing brand. They have the coolest textiles babies and older kids, and you can read their story here . Their clothes basically have a story :) Check it out! My older son turns 3 in just a few weeks and this might just be something I'll looking into. Fun, new clothes are always a great gift. Happy shopping, everyone and happy belated valentine's day too!

Toddler finally sleeps in his own bed in his own room :)

Hello everyone! Finally, our toddler sleeps in his own bed in his own room :D First night he woke up at 2 am and was crying for daddy but soon fell asleep again, and last night he slept through all night. Yay! I asked him last night where does he wanna sleep, and he said 'in my big boys bed :)'  He just needs a zillion different bed-time stories and a 'story massage' (telling a story and 'writing'/massaging it to his back - it works! Although he still doesn't go to bed until 10 pm but hey - one thing at a time. Family bed was getting a bit too narrow for us all so it's definitely time to have everyone sleeping in their own beds. Except for me and my baby - we sleep right next to each other because it's just easier with those nightly feedings so I don't have to get up. Good sleep is priceless! This weekend our toddler is going to his grandparents house for a sleepover. We definitely get to sleep in and my husband has more time to study. Besid...

Baby's gaining more weight, dealing with a toddler and planning a christening party

So baby had his check-up today at the health care center. He's gained more weight than I expected and grown a lot too (3,8 kg / 53 cm) so we're doing good :) Next check-up is in two weeks so let's hope this continues. He also sleeps quite well, you know, for a little baby; 3-4 hrs in a row which would be just perfect. And then there's the but: our toddler has started waking up at night, usually around 3 am and he keeps screaming for some time - feels like 2 hrs but probably closer to 30 minutes or so. It sucks, for many reasons. First of all, I don't even get that 3-4 hrs of sleep and now I'm exhausted. More strong coffee for me, please! Luckily he does (eventually) fall back asleep and then sleeps for good 3-4 hrs. It sucks for him too because he does need more sleep during the night. When he sleeps well, he eats well and that goes the other way too. Let's just hope this is a phase that'll go away soon. The nurse, which I met today at health care center...

Second week with the newborn

Good evening! Hope everyone's had a relaxing weekend. Mine's been just fine, with sunshine and some heat yesterday and then rain today. I even got to go outside today for a little stroll with the baby and toddler - with the new stroller, of course. I love it, it's the best one I've ever purchased!! Both kids slept at the same time and me and my husband had coffee on the terrace while they slept. Perfect :) So this week's been good. Baby sleeps 2-3 hrs every night, then eats, then sleeps again, then eats..and I'm fine with that schedule. As long as I don't need to get up every hour I'm fine - I get to sleep during the day from monday to thursday while our toddler, little L, is at the day care. Not that I ever sleep but it feels good to have that option. Right now all my time goes to planning on the christening party which we're having in august. Food, catering, my clothes..everything. You gotta be early on these things, right? ;) Our toddler is ...

Discount codes for the summer

Image
Good morning (or afternoon, I may say)!! What a great way to wake up after a somewhat good night sleep :) We had a rough night with little L because when he goes to sleep, he always needs his mommy to tuck him in - and now I'm sort of occupied with the baby and I don't have enough time to do that. I feel so bad and he gets so sad and mad at the same time. Luckily he fell asleep in his own bed and slept through the night. This constant guilt is killing me :( Well, I guess it just takes time. Thinking about Maxi-Cosi Mura Plus 4 -stroller with accessories

This morning I started thinking about the new stroller I'll need for my baby and toddler. This will be my last baby so I'm qualified to have a great stroller, right?! And it's time to make a decision soon since the arrives in less than 2 months. So I visited Babyshop's   website to see (again) what they have to offer and found this Maxi-Cosi Mura Plus 4   -stroller that looks good to me. I need one with big tires (Finnish winter, remember, with tons of snow) and at least a decent size shopping basket underneath to carry all my groceries and toys. The carry-cot   looks comfy enough and easy to carry with a handle. So how about this one with a carry-cot for the newborn and a wheeled board for my toddler? Wheeled board can easily be ordered from Lekmer . And not only that: this stroller is also compatible with any maxi-cosi infant car seat since the stroller comes with adapters - also available at Babyshop (or just get a used one from somewhere else). Can anyone recom...

Something new for the spring from Finnish Design Shop

Image
Good morning, everyone! It's a sunny morning here in Finland and because of that, I decided to advertise a little bit of Finnish Design Shop  and their cool new ideas for the spring. I love their site - it's super easy to follow and you can find stuff easily but not easy on your wallet ;) They do have on going campaigns and an outlet section where you can find stuff for -20-40% off of normal prices. These pages are available in many other languages, so not just for finnish customers. You can also see some of my favorite stuff from their site on my blog's " Home ideas " -section. So right now I'd like to add some colour to my apartment, and that's easily done & found  here on their site  Inspiration . It's always easier to find something you really like when you can see the whole picture. Birthday party & toddler sleeping sleeping in his own bed So today we're going to attend my niece's birthday party: she turns 18. I had a day ...

Best double stroller: considering Emmaljunga Double Viking / 735

Image
Good morning! I've posted a lot about different strollers and have a few great ones in my mind. Not in my husband's mind though so that's a problem ;) Like I said, we did buy used Phil&Teds -strollers but they're kinda worn out so I'm gonna need new ones I can really count on. And by that I mean I want ones that are sturdy since I will be carrying my two little ones in those, after all. Also I kinda want my children to sit next to one another, and P&T doesn't work that way. Here's a site  I read and started my comparing process. The problem still is, there are just so many options out there in the 'stroller jungle', which makes my decision even harder. Bugaboo Anyway, I've become a Bugaboo fan after reading many reviews on them and sort grown into them: I want them. They have many good qualities I'm looking for, such as big tires, they're sturdy, have a big basket underseat for groceries and most important - they look nice....

Finding the right kind of stroller for 1 or 2 children

As I mentioned on my introductory text, we have a toddler and we're also expecting a baby-boy this july. That means we need a new stroller that would suit for both of them. We've had quite a few different ones in the past 2 years, such as Gesslein vision  (it's an older one) and Emmaljunga scooter-s-air , to name a few. To be honest, I found myself as a 'stroller crazy' -type of person and it seems, I'm always looking for new ones. This time around I will choose my last ones - no more changes, says my husband :) Luckily I started this process early on so we're in no hurry yet - I still have time to make my decision. I have a few different ones on my mind and here are some of the qualities I'm looking for: Stroller for two (that's the minimum requirement) but they need to convertible for 1 or 2 children Preferably narrow ones (I use public transportation a lot) Cocoon carrycot for the baby as he needs to lie flat Not too heavy (I walk a lot) B...
