Baby turned 9 months

Good evening! It's a rare evening for me being able to write but 2/3 kiddos are asleep so I guess that means me-time :) I can't believe but my baby - youngest - turned 9 months yesterday!! This last baby year seems to go so fast, faster than the previous ones. It's bitter sweet to even think about my feelings year ago, how I was just waiting for this one to make his entrance and how slowly time would pass. And the fear I always had with all my pregnancies that something bad would happen. Anyway, things went fine and here we are - with an almost toddler :) Today my middle son had a day off from daycare as he always has on mondays so the three of us went to a mall nearby with bus and metro. There was a playarea where my 2 youngest ones could play and boy did I enjoy watching them play together! This mommy of 3 thing is getting easier with all of them playing together and that baby phase sorta moving away, if you know what I mean. And ok, only 2 of them with me today but s...

Maternity leave in Finland

Image
Hey everyone! Kids are back in daycare and summer is over even though the weather's been nice lately here in Finland. That's not the case every year since when school's start, summer always seem to have gone - so let's enjoy these last warm days and nights too :) At the beginning of summer I was so concerned how this summer would go as a family of 5, ie with 3 kiddos. All I'm gonna say is that it wasn't the easiest at some times but I learned a lot from my kids and overall it was a great summer. Luckily me being home, my middle son gets to stay home on mondays and therefore he only has four days at daycare. He's only 3 so that works for us just fine. Our 5 year old likes to go to daycare because that's where all his friends are and there just aren't that many 5 year olds who stay at home. In Finland you can stay home and take care of your kids that are under 3, and you get a little compensation for that too, without losing your job if you have a p...

Third child at 40?

Yes, that's a question I've been thinking for the past year or so. It's something I haven't really talked about much since it's very personal and obviously, considering my age, it might not happen :( Not that it's the end of the world since I do have two perfectly healthy little boys but still...when you just can't get through the subject it really is something to be considered. And how on earth would I wanna have another one, after this horrible year of having a baby and a toddler? Well, first of all, it hasn't been that bad. Yes, I've had sleepless nights (and I still do) but all the good things are just more important. I guess it started when we were expecting our youngest son and I had my first ultrasound way too early. I guess that was pregnancy week 7 or 8, and it turned out that I had two little babies growing inside me :) But, as it very often happens, the other one didn't survive. I, I didn't cry or anything since it was so early o...

Baby learned to sleep through the night

Good morning! I've been up since 5.50 am, thanks to the fact our baby/little toddler finally learned to sleep in his own bed (yay!) so I sleep really well now, too. No more tossing and turning in the night and wake up super tired in the morning. This is awesome! A little over a year ago I posted a blog about our older child and how he didn't sleep that well so we had to go through a sleeping school . Well, that worked for some time (he was 11 months when we went to sleeping school) but he went back to his old, bad habits of not sleeping at night when he was around 1,5-2 year old. So that's why I was a bit worried of how I'd cope with it with a new baby but it turned out babies can be totally different. Our little guy, aka baby, learned to sleep in his own bed, from 9pm-6am in just 3 nights!! I'm still a bit surprised, in a good way of course, that how easily that transformation from sleeping in our bed to sleeping through the night in his own bed went. I think ...

Introducing Finnish Aarrekid children's clothing brand

Image
It's finally beginning to feel like spring is finally just around the corner - it's super sunny outside and not too cold either. I don't mind cold weather as long as it's sunny outside. I feel like I have so much more energy getting up and I blame the sun for that :) Talking about spring, for me it means new, bright clothes and less clothes for sure. After wearing dark and heavy clothes all winter it really is time for something new. This time I'll introduce you Aarrekid which is a Finnish children's clothing brand. They have the coolest textiles babies and older kids, and you can read their story here . Their clothes basically have a story :) Check it out! My older son turns 3 in just a few weeks and this might just be something I'll looking into. Fun, new clothes are always a great gift. Happy shopping, everyone and happy belated valentine's day too!

Back to normal routine and dealing with sleep deprivation (again)

Hey everyone! Wow, it's been a while since I wrote last time. No, I didn't have a huge new years party ;) Instead, I've just been so busy with my little ones. My older son had a 2 week xmas break from his day care center and boy - it is work to entertain a toddler, especially if he's used to having different activities every day :) No, going to the park isn't enough and to be honest, we didn't get out of the house for few days because of those few horrible cold days. I mean, -20 degrees outside..not fun at all. Anyway, we did it and now my toddler is back at day care - half day until march and this works just fine. So I'm glad we're back to our normal routine: waking up early in the morning, having lunch on time, playing outside several times a day, seeing (toddler)friends etc. Routine helps to get through the day, I'll say :) Usually my baby, now 6 months already, sleeps really really well. I mean, 3-4 hrs in a row and that's just fine with ...

Baby's gaining more weight, dealing with a toddler and planning a christening party

So baby had his check-up today at the health care center. He's gained more weight than I expected and grown a lot too (3,8 kg / 53 cm) so we're doing good :) Next check-up is in two weeks so let's hope this continues. He also sleeps quite well, you know, for a little baby; 3-4 hrs in a row which would be just perfect. And then there's the but: our toddler has started waking up at night, usually around 3 am and he keeps screaming for some time - feels like 2 hrs but probably closer to 30 minutes or so. It sucks, for many reasons. First of all, I don't even get that 3-4 hrs of sleep and now I'm exhausted. More strong coffee for me, please! Luckily he does (eventually) fall back asleep and then sleeps for good 3-4 hrs. It sucks for him too because he does need more sleep during the night. When he sleeps well, he eats well and that goes the other way too. Let's just hope this is a phase that'll go away soon. The nurse, which I met today at health care center...

Introducing LaRedoute online store and my day so far

Today I'm introducing you a new French online store called LaRedoute . It delivers orders to over 150 countries (for free when your order is at least 89€) and they have brands such as Esprit, Pepe Jeans, Clarks and Numph in their selection. Mainly their products are clothes and homeware. Always nice to have new options when it comes to shopping online! :) Today's been a weird day with the baby. He usually falls asleep again at 10 am after feeding him but today he just didn't wanna go to sleep - not until 12 pm. It's funny how fast their schedule changes: he's 3 weeks old today and he's already staying up longer periods compared to only last week. That's when he fell asleep almost as soon as he had eaten. I do have to say he sleeps longer periods during the night which is absolutely fabulous :) I need to sleep too :) Today we also got new furniture to our front-yard. Yay for that! It's so much nicer to have proper seating area when having guests, or j...

Second week with the newborn

Good evening! Hope everyone's had a relaxing weekend. Mine's been just fine, with sunshine and some heat yesterday and then rain today. I even got to go outside today for a little stroll with the baby and toddler - with the new stroller, of course. I love it, it's the best one I've ever purchased!! Both kids slept at the same time and me and my husband had coffee on the terrace while they slept. Perfect :) So this week's been good. Baby sleeps 2-3 hrs every night, then eats, then sleeps again, then eats..and I'm fine with that schedule. As long as I don't need to get up every hour I'm fine - I get to sleep during the day from monday to thursday while our toddler, little L, is at the day care. Not that I ever sleep but it feels good to have that option. Right now all my time goes to planning on the christening party which we're having in august. Food, catering, my clothes..everything. You gotta be early on these things, right? ;) Our toddler is ...

Discount codes for the summer

Image
Good morning (or afternoon, I may say)!! What a great way to wake up after a somewhat good night sleep :) We had a rough night with little L because when he goes to sleep, he always needs his mommy to tuck him in - and now I'm sort of occupied with the baby and I don't have enough time to do that. I feel so bad and he gets so sad and mad at the same time. Luckily he fell asleep in his own bed and slept through the night. This constant guilt is killing me :( Well, I guess it just takes time. For today, I have some discount codes for you to share if you're interested - from travelling to shopping. Some of these are in Finnish only - sorry about that: Easyloma (travelling) Lisäalennnusta lapsista 100€ Easyloman matkoilla lapset matkustavat aina edullisesti. Back at new home with the newborn

Hello everyone! What a week it's been: I had my baby last tuesday and we're back at our new home. Let me just say it was a bit of a chaos, if I may call it. In the middle of the moving process on tuesday my contractions just kept coming and coming, stronger so we had to leave everything in the hands of our (the best ever) parents. They took care of little L, put everything in final place here at our home, cleaned it, cleaned our old place..what else? I am so grateful for all their help - we could not have done without them. Lucky us :) I stayed at the hospital until friday with the baby because he was born prematurely (pregnancy week 36+2) so they had to make sure he didn't lose too much his birthweight. He did, almost 10%, so we're really keeping track on how he's eating etc. Hope all goes well in the end and he'll start packing on pounds cause he's so tiny!! Other than that, life's good and we're so happy. All of us, even L although he is a bit ...

Our baby was born yesterday

Our little baby boy was born yesterday June 21, 2016 at 8 in the evening. Almost 4 weeks too early and we're staying at the hospital for at least two nights. He's so tiny and so cute - my heart is full. I love my children and my family. Now I will concentrate on him, moving process which took place yesterday, can wait. Both grandparents are helping, either with the move or with little L - who by the way seems like a giant compared to the baby :) And what else. .oh yes, my husband got a job yesterday. Permanent position. What a day!! Life is good right now and now I have everything.

Thinking about Maxi-Cosi Mura Plus 4 -stroller with accessories

This morning I started thinking about the new stroller I'll need for my baby and toddler. This will be my last baby so I'm qualified to have a great stroller, right?! And it's time to make a decision soon since the arrives in less than 2 months. So I visited Babyshop's   website to see (again) what they have to offer and found this Maxi-Cosi Mura Plus 4   -stroller that looks good to me. I need one with big tires (Finnish winter, remember, with tons of snow) and at least a decent size shopping basket underneath to carry all my groceries and toys. The carry-cot   looks comfy enough and easy to carry with a handle. So how about this one with a carry-cot for the newborn and a wheeled board for my toddler? Wheeled board can easily be ordered from Lekmer . And not only that: this stroller is also compatible with any maxi-cosi infant car seat since the stroller comes with adapters - also available at Babyshop (or just get a used one from somewhere else). Can anyone recom...

Weekend is almost here & thoughts on having another baby

Almost weekend and yes, I've been waiting for it all week :) Seems like one of those weeks when it takes forever it to be over. Little L is still a bit sick (stomach flu) - we took him to day care today but they called two hours later to come and pick him up earlier. Let's hope it'll be over soon and we'll have a healthy weekend. I only have three more weeks of work left before my maternity leave begins. Can't believe we're so close to that - this spring has gone by so fast! I really cant wait this upcoming move be over and the meeting our second son. I try not to stress about every little thing that's still left to buy (those strollers!!) It's funny, to be honest, on my last pregnancy I had everything done by the time I was 20 weeks pregnant. This time, not so much. Honestly, I cant always keep track on which pregnancy week I'm on :) But I do know my due date and that's enough for now! Anyone else feeling the same with their second (or third) ...

Selling our apartment and midseason sale

Hello everyone! What a week it's been so far! Our apartment is now officially on sale and by next week, we'll know for sure, if we're gonna move or not. So this week's been so far filled with business negotiations (selling process) and doing business with several different banks. Interesting at least but I have to I'm a bit tired now - wish this would be over soon with some clarity how things will end up. Other than that, my pregnancy's going well even though with this stress. It's pregnancy week 28 and baby keeps kicking :) Anyway, a lot of work what comes to selling the old apartment and buying a new one. And I still haven't got new strollers for the baby! Yikes! :) Midseason sale everywhere Many stores has a midseason sale going on and I have a few good ones here I want to share. This week is Vappu - official party everywhere in Finland so if you need something nice to wear, check these links out! Ellos   has a campaign for kids clothes: yo...

Blog post in Finnish: Offerilla & vietä enemmän aikaa perheesi kanssa - palkkaa siivooja!

Hello! Back in business again and f eeling relaxed after easter-break in Tahko skiing resort :) We arrived back to our apartment late last night (yes, our apartment!) and spent a night at our apartment for the first time in 4 weeks. Our bathroom is almost done: it should be done today!! I'm so happy and I didn't even mind cleaning the apartment. So much dust all over it but I don't care - we've all missed our home so much! Now we're gonna have to make up our mind: should we sell the apartment or stay in it - baby#2 arrives in mid-july so if we're gonna sell it, we need to do it now. Confused, yes.  Next post I'll write is about our Tahko-vacation and pics of our bathroom. This time little bit different. So t his time I will write a post about this new company that offers their cleaning-services here in Finland. Therefore this post will be in Finnish only:  Moppi - kokeilutarjous Vietä enemmän aikaa perheesi kanssa ja palkkaa siivooja. Me Mopilla si...

Best double stroller: considering Emmaljunga Double Viking / 735

Image
Good morning! I've posted a lot about different strollers and have a few great ones in my mind. Not in my husband's mind though so that's a problem ;) Like I said, we did buy used Phil&Teds -strollers but they're kinda worn out so I'm gonna need new ones I can really count on. And by that I mean I want ones that are sturdy since I will be carrying my two little ones in those, after all. Also I kinda want my children to sit next to one another, and P&T doesn't work that way. Here's a site  I read and started my comparing process. The problem still is, there are just so many options out there in the 'stroller jungle', which makes my decision even harder. Bugaboo Anyway, I've become a Bugaboo fan after reading many reviews on them and sort grown into them: I want them. They have many good qualities I'm looking for, such as big tires, they're sturdy, have a big basket underseat for groceries and most important - they look nice....

Friday night, a newborn, sauna and great music - let the weekend begin!

Good evening! My friday's been really good. First a quite productive day at work and got everything done on time what I was supposed to do. It's always comforting to start a weekend after day like that :) Then I went to pick up L from day care (the best part of my day, always) and go see an old friend of mine and her newborn son. I used to see this friend a lot 4-5 years ago when we were both single and basically had much more time to socialize than nowadays :) Then we both got married (not the same guy, hah haa!) and started a family and we all know how that works: if you don't keep in touch enough you just don't see your friends anymore. Sad but that's what happened. So we finally managed to see today after my work and it was so good to see her. And the baby..well, 4 weeks olds are very cute :) Thank god I'm already pregnant and gonna one of those on my own - too cute! And little. L seemed like a big guy compared to him so yes..tiny he was. L had fun too c...

Short workweek

This week is awesome what comes to work: only 4 days of work and a 3-day weekend :) And this morning started off really well since I got to sleep like a baby and when I got to work, I was able to find a parking spot!! What better way to start off this day :) I'm also working from home tomorrow so I don't need to worry about getting into traffic tomorrow morning. Good things ahead! Since I have a day off on friday, I might go and see an old friend of mine who lives very close to us (or, to be exact, my close to my in-laws where we're staying at right now). This place we're staying at is near my old house and school I went to in elementary school and some of my old friends are still living in that area. This friend who I might see, just had a baby like 2-3 weeks ago and she's currently a stay-at-home mom. We haven't seen each other for a long time so it's gonna be fun! Now what to buy to a little baby? Speaking of that, Lekmer  has a special offer this wee...

Weekend is almost here!

What a week it's been! Driving daily for almost 2 hours is kinda exhausting when you're not used to it. Everything's gone just like planned but I guess getting used to something new is always exhausting. So I had my ultrasound yesterday and it went well - expect for the stomach pain I had just before. Luckily it went away and everything seemed just fine with the baby. He was exercising with his legs up :) So cute. From now on there will be just check-ups with the nurse and next time (pregnancy week 22 or so) nurse will start measuring my belly. Luckily I haven't gained all that much weight on this pregnancy and I'm sort of under the radar because of my gestational diabetes so I better not gain too much weight for that reason either. On my last pregnancy I gained 15 kg:s but it need to be even less than that..no more cakes for me! This time of year always makes me happier and feels like I have tons more energy compared to just two months ago. Since it's spring...
