Good times in Tahko

Hello everyone! We arrived to Tahko ski resort last night after driving all day. This cottage we're staying at is huge - 6 bedrooms, 3 baths, a sauna, 2 fireplaces..I think we can handle this :) My parents are coming here today and staying over night so this won't feel quite that big. So in today's agenda there will be walking around the village and enjoying the sun, and later eating. A lot. We've been cooking all morning and the roast should be ready soon. Okay this was just a short post since we're going out soon. I will post more later and pictures too. Have a great day you all!

Best double stroller: considering Emmaljunga Double Viking / 735

Image
Good morning! I've posted a lot about different strollers and have a few great ones in my mind. Not in my husband's mind though so that's a problem ;) Like I said, we did buy used Phil&Teds -strollers but they're kinda worn out so I'm gonna need new ones I can really count on. And by that I mean I want ones that are sturdy since I will be carrying my two little ones in those, after all. Also I kinda want my children to sit next to one another, and P&T doesn't work that way. Here's a site  I read and started my comparing process. The problem still is, there are just so many options out there in the 'stroller jungle', which makes my decision even harder. Bugaboo Anyway, I've become a Bugaboo fan after reading many reviews on them and sort grown into them: I want them. They have many good qualities I'm looking for, such as big tires, they're sturdy, have a big basket underseat for groceries and most important - they look nice.

Introducing CDON.COM

Good morning! Today I'm going to introduce my new best friend: CDON.COM which is an online store  that offers a huge selection on music and merchandise. I was surprised when I first took a closer look on their site and what they are selling: shoes and clothes, baby-gear (from toys to clothes and strollers), home and gardening, sports-gear, books, movies, beauty and health, and top it off - they even have an outlet section! Maybe I'll find new stroller or someone else will find a jogging stroller? I saw one in their site. Not only do they have ongoing offers but they have campaigns on different categories. I wont point out any particular ones but just check this site out and find the ones you'll like - the selection is huge! So that being said, happy shopping! Today we're also gonna go out and explore some fun easter stuff and go to Haltiala farm . L has never seen farm animals so it should be fun an my last visit was years ago. So many things I get to explore now

Good friday (Pitkäperjantai) and special easter offers for women, men and children at Boozt!

Good morning, everyone! Good friday It's Good friday (Pitkäperjantai in finnish) and in Finland it's a common day off (and a long weekend, monday's off too) for most us. L had a easter costumer party at day care yesterday and he also brought home a traditional easter grass they made - cute! We also did our own easter grass at home and it turned out well - it sort of reminds me of the that spring is coming after the long winter. I love these traditions, as I've mentioned it before, and it's so cool my child gets to experience those too. So today's just for family time, eating, maybe taking a nap and going out for a walk and to the park to play. All the shops are closed today so really, today's a 'take it easy' -day for most of us :) Shopping If you've got some sparetime and want to do some online shopping while at home, I have some offers you might be interested in at Boozt : 20% off on EVERYTHING from the popular brands for women and

ROOM21  is an online store that sells design furniture and decorations to your home. Currently they have different campaigns  whether you're interested in buying a new lamp, a couch to your living room, Muumi-mug or this super cute Peep B3  drawer , to name a few. They have brands such as Kartell, Alessi, Design House Stockholm, Iittala, Fatboy and many more. Here are some some of my favorites to our bathroom and you can see all of them on their web page. Bathroom renovation Sorry - this topic, again! I had my first vacation day today so we started off early, had a brief meeting with our contractor in our apartment and then went to get all the rest of the stuff we needed, such as a bathroom mat & new towels from Ikea and hooks for the towels. Now we're done with all the shoppi

New local offers at Offerilla (Finland)

Hello! Offerilla is the "new Groupon/Citydeal" which I personally used a lot to get great offers on local deals such as beauty, hair-cuts, restaurants, housekeeping, cars, other services..you name it. This one is new and works only in Finland, though, but for those interested in finding great deals, check it out! Through this service you can buy gift certificates in an exceptionally low price, as the offer is usually -50% of the normal price. I used it a lot some time ago (when Groupon still existed) on hair-cuts and restaurants, and it was a great way to explore new services. How about yoga  for 19€ or middle-eastern  (food) menu for two for only 34,90€?  These are Helsinki/Espoo based services but they do have services in other cities in Finland too (Turku, Tampere for example). Have a great evening!

Maternity clothes from Bestseller

Image
It's time for a post on maternity clothes, and this time it's gonna be Bestseller . Quite new to me but they have a lot of maternity clothes and brands such as Mamalicious, Name It, Junarose, Only, Vero Moda, Vila, J. Lindeberg and Pieces. So not just maternity ones but something for everyone. It's not too pricey either and they have campaigns every now and then to make sure you'll make a great deal. With my growing bump, I'll need for at least a new jacket for spring and definitely wool-one in either black or gray color. Cardigans are always great and you can wear those later too, so not just for pregnancy. Dresses are easy and comfortable to wear at work, and I'll definitely need a dress for baby's christening in late august. Here are some of my favorites for spring from Mamalicious (Bestseller sells these and pictures are from their site): Wool Maternity Jacket - I'll need a new jacket for spring Long Sleeve Knit Maternity Cardigan - I'

Happy Palm Sunday!

Yes, happy palm sunday everyone! In Finland we have this easter  tradition that little girls (and boys too) dress up as witches or bunnies and go sort of trick of treating on the sunday before easter, on palm sunday which happens to be today. They bring decorated twigs to neighbors and in return they receive a reward (usually coins or chocolate easter eggs or other candies). We were pleased to have one set of these witches today and thank god I still had some easter eggs left :) Fun tradition, I remember doing that when I was a child and my husband did too. Good way to earn some money on your own and obviously didn't hurt getting some chocolate as well :) Maybe next year we'll go do that with L but only to greet both grandparents - he's way too young to go doing that on his own. So a lot of chocolate eaten this weekend and more to come next week when I start my easter holiday. I have some holiday left which needs to be used before the end of april so now's a good t

House renovation this weekend? Great offers & sale items!

Hello! How are you all doing? Hope everything's fine - to me it is. We went for a long walk today and L took his nap on a stroller. It's a bit cold here but somewhat sunny - spring is definitely on its way :) Our bathroom renovation project continues and week 3 starts on monday. It shouldn't take much longer anymore (3 weeks at the very most) so one day we'll be able to move back home. We're almost done with all the shopping, and today I ordered a shower set from Taloon  and particularly this one  which is on sale until 31 march, 2016. It's the cheapest one we found and this weekend (18-21 march, 2016) Taloon.com has free shipping and really short delivery time (1-3 days) so that was the winning deal for us. Didn't need to drive anywhere on a saturday but instead we ordered this online and had so much more time to do other family-stuff. Convenient :) And the best thing? They deliver it directly to your home. So if you need anything for you house (real

Friday night, a newborn, sauna and great music - let the weekend begin!

Good evening! My friday's been really good. First a quite productive day at work and got everything done on time what I was supposed to do. It's always comforting to start a weekend after day like that :) Then I went to pick up L from day care (the best part of my day, always) and go see an old friend of mine and her newborn son. I used to see this friend a lot 4-5 years ago when we were both single and basically had much more time to socialize than nowadays :) Then we both got married (not the same guy, hah haa!) and started a family and we all know how that works: if you don't keep in touch enough you just don't see your friends anymore. Sad but that's what happened. So we finally managed to see today after my work and it was so good to see her. And the baby..well, 4 weeks olds are very cute :) Thank god I'm already pregnant and gonna one of those on my own - too cute! And little. L seemed like a big guy compared to him so yes..tiny he was. L had fun too c

Bugaboo stroller or not

Image
Good evening! Almost done with the week what comes to work and really enjoyed my two days at a seminar. I'll have to write a post about it - conversations during lunch or coffee break are usually very productive. But that'll come later and my thoughts on different views on work when being a stay-at-home mom and new sort of business ideas. But, as the title says, it back to business with strollers. And not any stroller but bugaboo one and especially a donkey one. I keep following conversations on Facebook about Bugaboo strollers and everyone's saying good things about them. Things like they really act like a donkey (side-basket, basket underseat) and they can carry two children (a baby, two babies, a toddler or two toddlers). I already wrote a post about the essentials so I wont go further now. If interested, please look here  (you can easily change to your own language on this Babyshop web-site). So anyway, I keep thinking: do I really need those? I mean, they are qui

Attending a two-day seminar

Good morning! It's always great to wake up after a good nights sleep, and this working I did! Morning coffee and breakfast just for me before heading to work - perfect. I'm attending another work-related seminar today and tomorrow, and it's always great for mingling with people from your area of work. Great speeches, lots of new information on healthcare and social welfare in Finland and good food :) I do need to work on couple of my project plans as well during the seminar, but still..it's nice to have something different during the week instead of always either attending a meeting or working on usual stuff. I also need to go back to see the nurse that checked me on monday for my pregnancy. Just to make sure my contractions were nothing to worry about - like she said, baby needs to stay put and grow much more until he's ready for this world :) I don't thing there's really anything to worry about and I'm sure those contractions happened just becaus

Summer with two kids

I had a chat with my boss today about my work and also about my future with two kids. He told me he has two boys as well and they are only one year apart so it's been quite the show some 20 years ago. That made me wonder how are we really gonna make it? L hasn't quite learned yet how to sleep all night and in his own bed and he's not potty-trained yet. I think these are the biggest concerns I have now. What if the new baby won't sleep either? How will L welcome him in to our family, if at all? Jealousy is one thing I'm worrying about since L is and has been the only one for all his life. Nieces from my side of the family are already all grown up so L always gets all the attention. So these are the questions I'm dealing with right now. What do you think, how could I prepare L for having a little brother (and realizing he wont be the only one very soon)?

22 weeks pregnant: pregnancy check up

Image
Good evening! Today I had my pregnancy check up where they checked my blood pressure (normal), my weight (only 4 kg gained so far, yay!) and the size and height of my uterus. I'm glad I haven't gained too much weight yet because of my gestational diabetes - better keep an eye on the weight, and I sure have. What I was a little concerned about are contractions: I've been having those for a couple of days but let's hope they're just for practice and the baby will stay put for at least another..10 weeks? :) Other than that, I've had quite a busy day. Another seminar coming this week and lot's of things due this and next week so those will keep me busy. Shopping Just in case someone's interested in doing some monday-night shopping, Boozt  has a campaign (20% off) on women's , men's and kid's this season's outerwear. This campaign lasts only three days and it's about brands such as Fransa, Diesel, Esprit, Baum und Prefdgarten, Ga

Bathroom renovation and weekend shopping

Image
Good morning! We did some shopping yesterday and bought new floor tiles to our bathroom. We ended up getting small light grey ones (10x10) from Bauhaus and still deciding on wall tiles. (The on their site looks like beige but it's really light grey). White and shiny ones for sure, but we're still debating on the size: either 25x40 or even bigger ones. I'm glad it's easy to find information on Pinterest and other sites because I need pictures to see how something would look like once it's done - and I happen to love Pinterest so it's a win win ;) This one I found on Pinterest is very close to the one we're having although our floor tiles are gonna be lighter gray but wall tiles are pretty much gonna look like those: We also ordered this bathroom cabinet and a sink -set from Taloon.com. They ship for free on certain items so it makes it easier for us. We still need a mirror cabinet but that one I might buy from Bauhaus as well. We already have a sho

Money saving tips for the weekend

Good morning! My boys are still sleeping (yes, even L!) so I get to write a post this early on saturday morning - fun! I decided to share some money saving tips and offer codes I received from a sponsor. In case you're in need of a new jacket or sneakers or something else for the spring, now's the time to order with these great offers. Happy friday and a day off!

It's finally here, my day off :) Unfortunately L seems to know when I'll be staying home and therefore he wont have go to day care - and gets up at 5.30 am. Normally, when he has to go to day care, it's too hard for him to get at 7 am. Well, it is how it is and let's enjoy this day :) Sleeping is getting harder for me too since the baby I'm expecting is getting bigger and bigger each day and I can definitely feel his movement. Especially at night time but on the (positive) other hand, I have company during the night. I'm currently on pregnancy week 22 so it's natural and obviously a good thing to feel all those kicks. Future footballer there, maybe? ;) Good thing is that our bathroom renovation project progresses, and our contractor will start the installation of tiles next week!! And my husband will be able to help him with some stuff so that's always a good thing. So besides being super-tired, we'll do something fun today with L. It's not

Bathroom renovation continues

Image
We're finally at the point where the technical inspector will come to check the bathroom and make sure everything's going as planned. So the bathroom is empty from all the tiles and also we had to remove the well from one place to another so he needs to check on those too that they meet all the requirements and then write a report on it. Also we're getting new electricity so that definitely needs to be checked. Then - maybe - they can move forward again with new tiles and stuff! This weekend we need to actually go and buy those tiles and from changing our mind million times, we came with these shades and the pictures are from Pinterest: I think I prefer the lower one; not too dark but there's still some contrast between white and grey. And this is how our (small) bathroom looks currently: So what do you think, which shade do you prefer?

Short workweek

This week is awesome what comes to work: only 4 days of work and a 3-day weekend :) And this morning started off really well since I got to sleep like a baby and when I got to work, I was able to find a parking spot!! What better way to start off this day :) I'm also working from home tomorrow so I don't need to worry about getting into traffic tomorrow morning. Good things ahead! Since I have a day off on friday, I might go and see an old friend of mine who lives very close to us (or, to be exact, my close to my in-laws where we're staying at right now). This place we're staying at is near my old house and school I went to in elementary school and some of my old friends are still living in that area. This friend who I might see, just had a baby like 2-3 weeks ago and she's currently a stay-at-home mom. We haven't seen each other for a long time so it's gonna be fun! Now what to buy to a little baby? Speaking of that, Lekmer  has a special offer this wee

Seminar today

Good morning you all! Today's a seminar day for me - no working at the office but meeting other people on my field of work. Very exciting! I don't attend seminars that often so when there's one that really interests me and helps me with my work, I'm in :) It's always a great opportunity to get to listen to professionals and maybe ask some questions too that are going on in my mind. Luckily last night went so much better and L actually slept (almost) all night so I feel so much better too. Our bathroom renovation project is also moving forward, and today a plumber is coming to check those pipes I mentioned on my previous post. I just hope those wont be an issue and we can start re-building the bathroom next week already! Okay, that's all I'm gonna write about this time because I need to hurry now. Have a great day, everyone! :)

Trouble sleeping?

Hello everyone! Hope you had a good and relaxing weekend! Mine was full of packing since we temporarily moved again to my husband's parents house. I shouldn't complain at all - we're lucky to have a temporary housing (and even two!) and not having to rent somewhat expensive apartment for a month. My parents are coming back to their house so that's why we had to leave. So my weekend consisted of cleaning both places, packing (again) and un-packing, cooking and just normal family stuff. Only thing is, our little L is kinda confused with this whole moving thing and he basically cried all saturday night. He also got this really cool fire-truck  so he absolutely could not sleep! It's so hard to focus on anything when you haven't really slept - and same happened last night. More coffee, I say.. Bathroom renovation We did make it to a hardware store yesterday, and pretty much decided on what kind of tiles we want on the walls and floor. And we found a new toilet

New maternity package (äitiyspakkaus)

Hello everyone! I've been cleaning all morning (and updating my blog, surprise surprise) and soon we'll go for a walk - it's L:s naptime soon. I ordered some things for him from Lekmer for his birthday and now they're ready for pick up. Yay! I have one thing I wanted to write about and it's the new maternity package from Kela. In Finland we have a thing called Maternity package - containing all the essentials when having a baby: clothes, sheets, tooth- and hairbrush, and some essentials for mom, too. The site (click 'Maternity package') also explains who can / when you can have it. Yesterday they officially announced the 2016 package so check this out! It's always exciting to see what new things they've included in the package. This year I might not order the package since I still have so many clothes and other stuff from L:s package which I received 2 years ago. So instead, you can choose between the package or 140€. Unfortunately it takes (c

TGIF and new running shoes

Friday's here. Finally!! As I've mentioned million times already, I've been sick with this flu and stomach flu and flu again. It finally feels like I'm getting better and it feels great :) This past week has actually been first week that I've been able to go to work each day - amazing! It's so embarrassing to call my boss and say 'hey, I'm / my son is sick..again'. Anyway, I blame the start of the day-care 'career' for that and maybe we're done with the flu-season. So now that I finally get to move again and before my third trimester starts (and moving gets too hard again), it's time to invest on new running (or in my case, walking) shoes. I've been drooling for these Nike Air Max shoes for a while already and  Brandos  has them, for example, so I might have to order them: Other than ordering more shoes and clothes, we're gonna go to our apartment and remove that one layer of floor tiles. Then we're ready to actuall

Weekend is almost here!

What a week it's been! Driving daily for almost 2 hours is kinda exhausting when you're not used to it. Everything's gone just like planned but I guess getting used to something new is always exhausting. So I had my ultrasound yesterday and it went well - expect for the stomach pain I had just before. Luckily it went away and everything seemed just fine with the baby. He was exercising with his legs up :) So cute. From now on there will be just check-ups with the nurse and next time (pregnancy week 22 or so) nurse will start measuring my belly. Luckily I haven't gained all that much weight on this pregnancy and I'm sort of under the radar because of my gestational diabetes so I better not gain too much weight for that reason either. On my last pregnancy I gained 15 kg:s but it need to be even less than that..no more cakes for me! This time of year always makes me happier and feels like I have tons more energy compared to just two months ago. Since it's spring

Going to see my baby

Today is another check up concerning my baby: an ultrasound. I just had my previous one, 3d/4d, 2 weeks ago and we found out we're having another boy. The thing about 4d ultrasound is that you're able to see how your baby looks like - although baby's still very little. And it's nice to "meet" him again today and hope everything's still fine. I can't believe I'm already 20 weeks pregnant - half way already! My colleague told me her daughter just had her first baby at just 28 weeks. Baby weighed only little over 1 kg which made me realize anything can happen. Let's keep our fingers crossed that my baby will stay put until July! Yesterday we celebrated L's 2 year birthday party and I have to say that cake I made (car-cake with chocolate-cream filling) was delicious! L liked it too and we ended up eating the front part of the car :) He also got some small presents (books etc.) but the rest are still on their way to our house since I didn'
